The opt-in language is plain (no dark-pattern checkboxes), and STOP / HELP keywords are handled automatically — Twilio recognizes the reply, marks the client as opted-out, and stops sending. The contractor side is just as clean: you can pause SMS for a single client, a single job, or your whole account from Settings → Scheduling. Pause is one click; resuming is the same.
