Build with us.

We're a small team building software for tradespeople. Remote-first, plain language, ship every sprint. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, get in touch.

Who we are

Bit & Grain is a trade business operating system, built by an owner-operator who came up through the woodworking, cabinetry, and finish carpentry trades. The product is shipping every sprint, and we're rolling out to small operators one trade at a time. We're early-stage, founder-led, and intentionally small.

We hire people who've built things, engineers who've shipped products, designers who've cared about end-to-end craft, and product folks with real trade or operations background. We don't hire for resume polish; we hire for shipping evidence and a feel for the work small trade businesses actually do.

Open roles

No public openings right now
We don't have public open roles right now, but we're always interested in talking to engineers, designers, and trade-experienced product folks who could shape what we ship next. Email careers@bitandgrain.app with a short note about what you've built and what you're looking for. We read every email; we reply to the ones that show real shipping evidence.

How we work.

Four principles that shape the way we run the company day-to-day.

Remote-first
We work from wherever, workshops, home offices, coffee shops. The team is distributed by design and we communicate async by default.
Plain language
If we wouldn't say it on a job site, we don't say it internally either. No corporate-speak in Slack, no jargon in commits, no PowerPoint decks.
Build to completion
We don't ship MVPs and call them v1. Every feature ships in finished form or it stays in the next sprint until it's done. We tell you what's real.
Ship every sprint
Two-week sprints, every sprint ends with something live. We optimize for shipping over planning, and we adjust the plan when the work tells us to.
