Real invoice dates, editable payments, and Pay by Zelle

Bit & Grain now lets you set the real date on an invoice, fix a payment you recorded wrong, and show clients how to pay you by Zelle.

Every invoice has an Invoice Date you can set to any day, past or future. Bringing last season's invoices over from your old system? They keep the dates the work actually happened. Recurring invoices stamp the cycle they were issued for, and imported invoices hold on to their original dates. Payments you recorded by hand are now editable too: open Payment History on any invoice and change the amount, method, date, or notes, or delete a bad row entirely. Card payments that ran through a processor stay locked, since the processor is the record. The paid date now comes from the payment itself, so a check that cleared on the 3rd shows paid on the 3rd, not the day you got around to typing it in. And when an estimate with a paid deposit becomes an invoice, the carried-over deposit shows as a clearly labeled Deposit credit on the invoice, so your payment history and your income reports always agree on where that money came from.

There is also a new Settings page for what shows on the invoices you send. Add your Zelle handle and every unpaid invoice shows the client a Pay by Zelle block, on the portal and in the email, with your handle and what to do next. Write your default payment terms and an agreement reference once and they appear on each invoice, with fill-in values like {total}, {balance}, and {due-date} computed per invoice; any single invoice can override the default. Say you are moving over from paper: enter the spring's invoices with their real dates, record the checks on the days they actually cleared, and your books read like they always lived here.

You will find the Invoice Date on the new and edit invoice forms, payment editing in the Payment History card on any invoice, and the Zelle and terms settings under Settings, then Invoices & Estimates.
