Get paid straight to your own Stripe account, by card or bank

Connect Stripe under Settings, then Payments, and your clients' invoice and deposit payments go straight to your own Stripe account. Stripe bills its processing fee to you directly, on Stripe's own terms. Your client sees a Pay with card or bank button and picks one.

Here is what each online payment costs, as our Terms put it:

  • Card payments: Stripe's processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ for US cards, paid to Stripe) plus Bit & Grain's fee of 0.5% of the payment, never more than $25 a payment.
  • Bank payments (ACH): Stripe's fee of 0.8% (never more than $5) plus Bit & Grain's fee of 0.5% (never more than $5).
  • Payments you record yourself (Zelle, cash, check): no fee.

If you refund a payment, we refund our fee in proportion to the amount refunded. If a client disputes a payment and you lose the dispute, we refund our fee on that payment. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before we change our payment fees, and they're separate from your subscription price.

Bank payments are made for big invoices. On a $2,000.00 invoice paid by bank, the two fees come to $10.00 and $1,990.00 reaches your bank. A bank payment takes a few days to clear. Until it does, the invoice shows Bank payment processing and your client isn't offered a second Pay button.

Disputes on the new setup work the way card payments normally do: Stripe holds the disputed amount, you get an email when a dispute opens, and you answer it from your Stripe dashboard with your receipts, photos, signed estimates and messages. Each Stripe payment on an invoice and your income report now show Stripe's fee and Bit & Grain's fee separately, and the tax export puts both on Line 10.

Already had a Bit & Grain account on October 5? Our 0.5% doesn't start for you until November 4, 2026. If you finished Stripe setup on our original setup, you stay on it, with Stripe's standard card fee and no Bit & Grain fee, until you choose Switch to the new Stripe setup under Settings, then Payments. The full wording is in Section 5 of our Terms at bitandgrain.app/terms.
